Is it just because it's summer that some of the really lame web ideas get to see the light of day? The second tech bubble has its share of petfood.coms' but this time they're masquerading as social networking something-er-others or messaging breakthroughs or Office replacements or video-tube killer apps.
The worst part of this whole absurd craze to extol five lines of javascript wrapped in pastel colours is the piling on of the tech writers and tech writer wannabes. The latest extravagant gusts of useless video from... well from anyone with any sort of tech cachet is only serving to heighten the need for real thought in the video space. If you have a video camera and a broadband connection please stop and think for a minute. It's not that you can post a video; it's, should you post a video. If you have any doubts then please keep the data center clear of your megabytes.
