Finally. Something to wake me from my slumber.

Reading about this here and here, I was immediately struck by this question:

Why is Scoble leaving the biggest stage he will ever -- I mean EVER -- have?

People will say money or stock options, and they were probably factors. It may have more to do with his son, which might be the best reason in the world. I sure hope it's about family because Mr. Scoble, you achieved notariety in the tech world with Microsoft the likes of which will not be seen again.

And with that, perhaps I have answered the question. What more could Robert do for Microsoft? It's not like MSFT stock options would hold him there, given that 1999 is so seven years ago. It's not like he hasn't been banging the drum for the company as loudly as any one man can. A life transforming experience like the death of his mother would stir him to his core; it might cause him to think more about tomorrow and less about today.

Here's the thing. It's a personal choice and if it blows up in a month, it will still be the right choice. Life is a twisty thrill.

If you're into pithy word bombs, you know, those "Future Shock" "New World Order" "we're bigger than the Beatles" type things -- the type of three or four word slogan that leads to book and sitcom deals -- then you are going to LOVE this one:

"Implicit in the ecstatic visions of Web 2.0 is the hegemony of the amateur."

HEGEMONY of the AMATEUR. You saw it here second! or third!

Ain't those the bon-est mots you've read since... the "Digital Divide" or "whazzup"? But how could it not be good when the essay -- make no mistake this was no mere blog entry -- by Nicholas Carr starts with:

"From the start, the World Wide Web has been a vessel of quasi-religious longing."

Huh? "From the start..."? I wonder what Tim Berners-Lee would have to say about that?

Gnomedex -> Boris is there -> Simple List Extensions -> Marc Canter's at Gnomedex too -> Media RSS -> ourmedia.org -> drupal.org -> modularity -> support for Simple List Extensions and Media RSS within what period of time?

I think Drupal will be the first CMS platform to support all of the major extensions to RSS and also become the best web-based multi-media aggregator. It may also become a pretty good OPML tool as well.

Techpodcasts.com member and primo stream guy, Rob Greenlee, is setting up a 3 microphone remote at Gnomedex 5.0. As he is able to collar guests and luminaries he, along with Todd Cochrane and Andy McCaskey, will be providing some interesting content from Bell Harbor. Check this link on June 24 and 25 after 8:00 AM PDT -- the stream will not be continuous. As soon as Rob can do so he will be setting up a schedule of the streams that will be available.

Apparently there is an announcement coming from Microsoft that will concern podcasting. My bet is a "me too" deal for Windows Media along the lines of Apple's iTunes 4.9 announcement of a few weeks ago.
